Paul Adom-Otchere, the host of Good Evening Ghana, revealed that the late brother of former sanitation minister, Cecilia Abena Dapaah, left behind US$800,000, which was stolen alongside her own US$200,000 in a heist orchestrated by two former house helps in 2022.
The pro-government journalist referred to police complaint forms filed by the minister and her husband after discovering the substantial loss of money at their private residence in Accra. According to Adom-Otchere, the late brother, who was a sub-chief of the Asantehene, had given the money to their mother, and she subsequently transferred it to Cecilia Dapaah.
The US$800,000, as reported to the police and mentioned in the charge sheet, was noted to belong to Cecilia Dapaah's late brother. However, the situation became controversial as it was not the minister's own money. The charge sheet also indicated that 300,000 euros were stolen, although Adom-Otchere disputed this, stating that documents he had seen suggested it actually belonged to the husband.
Adom-Otchere delved into the business interests of the architect husband and the late brother, presenting this information to the public and urging them to assess whether these individuals had the means to amass the mentioned sums.
His revelations shed light on the complexity of the case and raised questions about the ownership and origins of the stolen funds.
