Adisadel College dismisses student following circulation of a viral video showing the student violently assaulting a junior.

Adisadel College has issued a statement on their Twitter account regarding the recent incident of a senior student violently assaulting a junior, which was captured in a viral video.

According to the statement, the culprit, who happens to be a final year student, will face outright dismissal from the school. However, he will be allowed to write his final exams with the West African Examinations Council (WAEC) pending the final decision of the school's Board of Governors and the Ghana Education Service.

The assault took place on the 30th of June, 2023, in Quaque house, as stated in the statement. The video shows the senior student holding the victim from behind and slamming his face on a bunk bed, causing immediate swelling.

In response to the incident, the victim has been suspended, and the student who recorded the video, as well as other witnesses who failed to report it, will also face varying degrees of sanctions. The housemaster and his deputy will be immediately suspended as well, pending the outcome of the investigation by the GES.

Furthermore, the Ghana Education Service had already ordered the suspension of the student involved in the assault and suggested involving the police due to the nature of the assault.

The school's actions are an interim measure, and the final decisions will be made by the school's Board of Governors and the Ghana Education Service.
