Boakye Agyarko's revelations on AMERI deal confirm how corrupt Akufo-Addo's government is - Kofi Buah

The Minority Leader and Member of Parliament (MP) for Ellembele, Emmanuel Armah Kofi Buah, has responded to the allegations made by former Minister of Energy, Boakye Akyarko, regarding the re-negotiation of the 250 Megawatts Ameri Power Plant during his tenure.

According to Buah, Boakye Agyarko's revelations confirm the National Democratic Congress (NDC)'s belief that the Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo government is plagued with corruption. In a tweet, Buah mentioned that Agyarko's statements revealed the extent of influence wielded by Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo's nephew, Gabby Asare Otchere-Darko, within the government.

The Ellembele legislator went on to express his view that the Ameri deal renegotiated by the Akufo-Addo/Bawumia NPP government was fraudulent and intended to shortchange the Ghanaian people. He stated that the outcome of the renegotiation allowed the duration of the original AMERI contract to be extended from 5 to 10 years at a cost of $1 billion, implying that Ghana has been deprived of this significant sum.

In the background information, it was reported that Boakye Agyarko alleged that Gabby Asare Otchere-Darko, without the consent of the government-appointed committee, had renegotiated the Ameri deal and extended the contract to 20 years. Boakye Agyarko said that when he questioned Gabby's actions, the latter claimed to have the approval of President Akufo-Addo. Despite Agyarko's objections, the president asked him to forward the deal for review by the committee.
