Court orders arrest of CEO over GH¢100,500.00 fraud allegation

A bench warrant has been issued by an Accra Circuit Court for the arrest of a businessman accused of defrauding Star Steels Limited by falsely obtaining iron rods worth GH¢100,500.00 under the pretext of paying through the Agricultural Development Bank. The accused, Mr. Kwadwo Fosu, was also charged with issuing a false cheque and failing to appear in court for his plea to be taken.

The request for a bench warrant was made by Police Chief Inspector Agartha Abena Asantewaa, who stated that numerous attempts to bring the accused before the court had been unsuccessful.

Mr. Fosu, who is the Chief Executive Officer of Fosu Gyeabour Transport and Training Enterprise, allegedly purchased iron rods worth GH¢220,000.00 from Star Steels Limited, making a partial payment of GH¢119,550.00. He subsequently issued post-dated Agricultural Development Bank cheques for the remaining balance, but the cheques bounced when presented to the bank.

Following the complaint filed by Mr. Isaac Amo, the representative of Star Steels Limited, an investigation revealed that Mr. Fosu issued post-dated cheques worth GH¢100,500.00 without adequate funds in the specified accounts.

The court, presided over by Mr. Samuel Bright Acquah, issued the bench warrant for Mr. Fosu's arrest. The case has been adjourned to August 16, 2023.
