Finance, Minister Ken Ofori-Atta will deliver the Mid-Year Review of the Budget Statement and Economic Policy of the Government for the 2023 Financial Year to Parliament on Tuesday, July 25, 2023.

The presentation by Mr. Ofori-Atta is in accordance with the Public Financial Management Act, 2016 (Act 921).

Deputy Majority Whip Lydia Seyram Alhassan made the announcement during the Business Statement for the Seventh Week Ending Friday, July 21, 2023, on the floor of Parliament in Accra on Friday.

She urged fellow MPs to take note of the day and be present for the presentation.

Madam Alhassan informed the House that Speaker Alban Bagbin had directed the Business Committee to schedule the Finance, Education, and Food and Agriculture Ministers to update the House on the challenges facing the National Food Company. Accordingly, the Ministers were programmed to attend on Tuesday, July 18, 2023, to brief the MPs on the matter.

She also proposed a joint Caucus meeting on Wednesday, July 19, 2023, after adjournment to discuss important matters, encouraging all Members of Parliament to attend.

Madam Alhassan recommended that the House begin sitting at 10:00 am each day with extended sittings to ensure that the scheduled business for the seventh week, particularly the Bills, are considered and passed promptly.

She emphasized the need for the Committees with referrals to expedite their work, including those handling the Grains Development Authority Bill, 2022; Ghana Industrial Property Office Bill, 2023; Rent Bill, 2023; and National Petroleum Authority (Amendment) Bill, 2023, for the attention of the House.

During the seventh week, seven Ministers are expected to attend Parliament and respond to 50 questions, of which 48 will be oral and two urgent. Ministers of Education, Health, Lands and Natural Resources, Communications and Digitalisation, Tourism, Arts and Culture, Trade and Industry, and Roads and Highways are among those scheduled to attend.
