Ken Agyapong lashes Bawumia over IMF decision

Kennedy Agyapong and Vice President Bawumia are both competing for the position of NPP flagbearer.

During his campaign in the Kintampo East Constituency, Kennedy Agyapong, a hopeful for the NPP flagbearer position, launched a verbal attack on the campaign of Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia. Agyapong warned that he would aggressively respond if the personal attacks against him did not cease.

He criticized the campaign's claims of being strategists, highlighting that the country's reliance on IMF was evidence of their flawed strategies. Agyapong also pointed out the depreciation of the Ghanaian cedi against the dollar during their tenure. He questioned their credibility as strategists based on these economic factors.

Vice President Bawumia, who is also vying for the NPP flagbearer position, enjoys significant support from party officials, including ministers, members of parliament, and other government representatives. However, critics like Kennedy Agyapong argue that individuals closely associated with the current administration should not lead the party in the upcoming election due to concerns about the state of the economy.

Agyapong emphasized that a clean campaign should be conducted, warning that he could respond in a similarly aggressive manner if attacked, but always with truthfulness and without resorting to lies and propaganda. He maintained that the NPP's chances of winning the 2024 election would be at risk if current administration members were allowed to lead the party.

Agyapong emphasized that his practical qualities make him a suitable candidate for running the country, unlike the traditional reliance on an economic background that has been the norm for years.
