LGBTQ+ Is Another Form Of Colonialism - Inusah Fuseini

Inusah Fuseini, a seasoned former Member of Parliament for Tamale Central representing the National Democratic Congress, has expressed his belief that the efforts made by individuals associated with the LGBTQ+ community to gain acceptance of their rights in Ghana resemble a new form of colonialism.

While Fuseini supports the abolition of the death penalty in Ghana, he argues that the case of the gay community is different as it seeks to undermine the authentic African culture.

During an interview with Umaru Sanda Amadu on Citi TV, Fuseini emphasized that while it is important to embrace diverse choices, allowing the LGBTQ+ community to flourish would mean embracing a new form of colonialism.

"I advocate for life imprisonment instead of the death penalty, which may be somewhat consistent with the way Africans have traditionally coexisted. LGBTQ+ is an attack on African traditions. Every people have the right to their own culture. Our culture defines us. Diversity is what makes us human. Our differences should not divide us; instead, they should allow us to understand each other," he stated.

Fuseini believes that trying to impose a culture that contradicts traditional African culture is akin to another form of colonialism or imperialism, which is why LGBTQ+ faces significant opposition.

He also acknowledged that individuals have the right to engage in private practices of their choosing, but if such acts are publicized, there should be laws in place to address them.

Parliament has already adopted an anti-gay bill that seeks to criminalize all activities related to the LGBTQ+ community in the country and proposes punitive measures against suspects.
