The Communications Directorate of Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia's Office has refuted claims that his campaign to become the New Patriotic Party (NPP) flagbearer is being funded by an Islamic group in Nigeria.
In a press statement issued on Wednesday, July 19, the directorate denied the allegations made by Nigerian journalist David Humdeyin. They stated that some political actors in Ghana are using these false claims for their own propaganda purposes.
The statement urged the public to disregard the allegations and clarified that Dr. Bawumia's campaign has no affiliation or funding from any Islamic group in Nigeria or elsewhere.
The Bawumia Campaign Team is focused and will not be swayed by such baseless accusations, and the Vice President will remain true to his principles of diligence and transparency throughout the contest.
